Part 1 of a trilogy which was uncompleted due to the director's death. The Weeping Meadow follows events in Greek history from 1919 to the aftermath of the Second World War. A band of refugees from Odessa returning to Greece after the Russian Revolution adopts an orphan girl, who becomes the focus of the story as her childhood and adolescence are affected by the aftermath of World War 1, the uncertainties of the interwar years, and the cataclysm of World War 2 and the Greek Civil War.
